But I did eventually overcome those feelings of self-doubt. And I highly encourage you to do the same. I know it can get frustrating. However, focus on the positive strides you are making; don’t focus on those last stubborn 10 pounds.
Write some affirmations on a piece of paper. But don’t just write, “I want to lose 10 pounds.” Include why you want to lose 10 pounds. Is it because you want to have more energy? How about more confidence? Want to feel sexier? Nothing wrong with that! Write something like, “My body is melting fat and my metabolism is increasing. I feel more energy. I deserve to look and feel my best.”

Without further ado, here’s some possible reasons it’s hard to lose those last 10 pounds.
Stubborn Belly Fat Reason #1: Estrogen Dominance
Having too little estrogen can lead to a challenging menopause. Hot flashes. Night sweats. Yuck. Something I hope to and intend not to experience. But before you hit menopause, many women experience the opposite: too much estrogen. Estrogen dominance can lead to breast, ovarian and uterine cancer. Less serious, it can also lead to a sluggish metabolism.
How does one become estrogen dominant? One way is using household cleaners, makeup, shampoos and other self-care products that have harsh, toxic chemicals. Some of these chemicals have properties that mimic estrogen. Your body has estrogen receptor sites all over, including the breasts, ovaries and uterus. Consequently, your lean-muscle encouraging testosterone goes down (yes, women need testosterone) and estrogen goes up.

Purge your bathroom, pantry and space under the sinks of all products that aren’t made with mostly all-natural ingredients.
Stubborn Belly Fat Reason #2: Sluggish Liver
Let’s say you’re making great progress in your health in comparison to years past. You’re hitting the gym more often or doing more yoga. But lately, you have one foot off the wagon. There’s been a lot of birthday parties. And brunches. Or maybe the holiday season has set you back a step.
If you’re not eating as clean as before, your liver could be overworked. Are you tired more often? Is it more difficult for you to focus? And when chronic stress strikes, either one or two unhealthy dietary patterns results. Some people forget to eat. And when you forget to eat, you can slow down your metabolism as your body might think it’s going through a starvation period. Furthermore, if you forget to eat or don’t eat enough while under intense stress, you’re not getting the nutrients like electrolytes you need to deal with the ordeal.
The flip side to this is when people binge eat. Some people call it comfort eating. And when someone comfort eats, it’s rarely nutrient-dense foods like celery sticks and sauteed broccoli. If you do suffer from chronic stress, try to do some gentle yoga or meditation. Or anything else that will help you manage stress. The name of the game isn’t to completely eliminate stress. That’s unrealistic. But by practicing some form of relaxation technique, your body will secrete less stress hormones.
